Somerset Police Department Seeking Donations for Holiday Toy Drive

Donations to be Collected Nov. 1 Through Dec. 13

SOMERSET — Chief George McNeil is pleased to share that the Somerset Police Department Problem Oriented Policing (POP) Unit will be hosting a holiday toy drive beginning this weekend.

“We know that many people in our community have been hit hard financially as a result of COVID-19 and may be struggling this holiday season,” Chief McNeil said. “We want to be able to help as many families as possible this season, so we encourage anyone who is able to consider donating to the POP Team Toy Drive.”

WHEN:

Sunday, Nov. 1 through Sunday, Dec. 13

WHERE:

Somerset Police Department, 465 County St.

WHAT:

The POP Team will be collecting items for boys and girls age 12 and under. Requested items include new and unwrapped toys, books, arts and crafts supplies, board games, card games and sports equipment. Gift cards to local restaurants and grocery stores are also welcome.

The POP Team is also seeking donations of wrapping paper, tape, gift tags, holiday cards, large boxes and contractor bags to help store the toys and deliver them to families.

All donations can be dropped off at the Somerset Police Department and will go directly to families in need in Somerset.

Families in need this holiday season can contact POP Team Officers Brain Dempsey and Shaun Kelly to request donations. All information and requests will be kept confidential and arrangements can be made to deliver the toys in a Somerset Police cruiser or picked up at the Somerset Police Department.

For more information or to request to receive items, please contact Officer Dempsey at 508-493-5352 or Officer Kelly at 508-493-4932. The officers can also be reached by email at SPDPOPTeam@gmail.com.
