Traffic Enforcement Unit

Motor vehicle safety is of great importance to the protection of life and property, and through enforcement of motor vehicle laws we can hope to decrease crashes, improve pedestrian safety, and raise awareness of proper and safe motor vehicle operation.

With these goals in mind, the Somerset Police Department are proud to announce the formation of the Somerset Police Department Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU).

The TEU will be made up of dedicated patrol officers who work to identify “problem areas” in Somerset for issues such as speeding, stop sign/light violations, or other traffic infractions.  Problem areas will be defined by crash statistics, officer observations, and citizens’ input.

Many of our citizens have concerns about speeding or other violations in their neighborhoods.  By submitting the information below, you can report your concerns directly to the SPD TEU using a form that will be emailed to them.  Officers from the TEU will evaluate the complaints, and work to assign resources to address the problems.  TEU officers will utilize standard enforcement devices such as radar speed detection tools, with radar trailers and other advisory equipment also available to assign to problem areas.  We ask that residents be patient, as we anticipate high demand for a limited amount of resources.

The Somerset Police Department is excited to provide this program, and we thank you for your continued support.
