The Somerset Police Department in partnership with the Somerset Council on Aging and TRIAD has implemented a Lock Box Program. This program will allow for emergency responders to enter your home if you are unable to get to the door whether you have an illness, injury or disability. The lock box provides safe storage of your house key secured by a code which only first responders have access to and is installed out sight.
Through grant funding obtained by TRIAD through D.A. Thomas Quinn's Office and the Somerset Council on Aging, the Lock Boxes have been purchased and will be installed free of charge by our Police and Fire Departments. If you are interested in obtaining a lock box for your home, please contact Officer Shaun Kelly by calling our non-emergency line at 508-679-2138, or via email at s_kelly@somersetpd.org
Project Lifesaver uses radio technology alongside specially trained search and rescue teams to bring “at risk” individuals back to safety. When a citizen is enrolled, Officer Kelly will reach out to coordinate the placement of a small transmitter on the wrist or ankle which emits an individualized frequency signal. If the enrolled citizen goes missing, their caregiver will call our department and we will respond with a trained emergency team. Their mission is to provide timely response for “at risk” individuals who are prone to behaviors of wandering due to a cognitive condition.
If you are a Town of Somerset Resident: for more information about Project Lifesaver or to enroll an “at risk” individual contact Officer Shaun Kelly by calling our non-emergency line at 508-679-2138, or via email at s_kelly@somersetpd.org.
Our P.A.L. program is one we are very proud of. The longest-standing community outreach program in our agency, we take pride in forming bonds with the children in our community. Please watch the video above!
The Somerset TRIAD is a cooperative among Somerset Police, Fire, and the Somerset Council on Aging. The mission of The Somerset TRIAD is to enhance the lives of senior citizens by reducing the criminal victimization of the elderly, addressing public safety issues affecting the older citizens, and devising methods of expediting services to these persons.
Thanks go to former Somerset Officer Brian Dempsey and his POP Team partner Shaun Kelly for growing this toy drive over the years. We've made a lot of children happy over the years with these donations, and we hope to continue with help from our community! Click the photo for some great pictures.
Free to all who wish to attend, this event gives our Department and partner agencies a chance to show the public what we do, and to interact with those we serve. Detective Mike DeMoranville does a great job with this every year! Click the photo for more pictures and info!
Our Explorer Program is designed to provide young people of character and integrity with opportunities that promote leadership, confidence, discipline, and community service and to create positive relationships with police officers while developing an awareness of the purpose, mission and objectives of law enforcement.
For years, Somerset Police officers have engaged in training to assist our residents, and others in the area, with the safety of their children. Child safety seat checks are one way we accomplish this. Call the PD to schedule your car seat inspection.
A new program called R.A.D. KIDs is being offered by the Somerset Police Department. Officers Amber Massa and Eric Lewandoski have been certified to teach children how to recognize, avoid, resist and, if necessary, escape predatory violence or harm in their lives.
Regular events are held at the Somerset Police Department for citizens to bring in expired, or no longer needed, prescriptions to be properly disposed of. Events are staffed by Somerset Police officers.
