“It is the mission of the Somerset Police Department to preserve the peace and protect life, property, and rights through professional and ethical service to the community.”
Located at 465 County Street, the Somerset Police Department is an accredited police agency under the Massachusetts Police Accreditation Commission. Originally constructed in 1965, the Department was partially renovated in 2003 when a two-level, 9,000 square foot addition was added to the south side of the building. There are currently three adult male holding cells, one female holding cell, and one separate holding area for juvenile offenders. The main building consists of two floors, with the top floor accommodating command staff, records, and the Detective Division. The lower-level houses communications and our patrol staff offices. The older area of the building now contains the secured booking/cellblock area, evidence room, and the patrol sergeants’ offices.
Staffing is currently at 34 sworn full-time officers, which includes three officers assigned as School Resource Officers. Support personnel include 6 full-time, Emergency Medical Dispatch and 911-certified dispatchers, 10 reserve police officers, 5 part-time dispatchers, an administrative assistant who also handles records clerk duties, and a full-time maintenance/custodial staff member
"Your dedication and bravery have not gone unnoticed; you have answered the call with courage and bravery.
Take your well-deserved place of honor among those who served before you, and know that your memory lives on through ours forevermore"
